Position: Jr. Network Technician Location: Gary, IN (4 days Onsite in a week) Duration: Contract Job Description: MONITORS, MAINTAINS AND TROUBLESHOOTS DATA OR VOICE NETWORKS; RESPONDS TO ALARMS OR PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED BY TOOLS. IMPLEMENTS PRE-DEFINED TROUBLE-SHOOTING PROCEDURES AND SCRIPTS AND ESCALATES AS APPROPRIATE. MAY ASSUME VENDOR INTERFACE DUTIES. MONITORS AND CONTROLS THE PERFORMANCE AND STATUS OF THE NETWORK RESOURCES. UTILIZES SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE TOOLS AND IDENTIFIES AND DIAGNOSES COMPLEX PROBLEMS AND FACTORS AFFECTING NETWORK PERFORMANCE. PROVIDES GUIDANCE AND DIRECTION FOR LESS-EXPERIENCED TECHNICIANS. UNDER GENERAL DIRECTION, RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MOST COMPLEX TESTING AND ANALYSIS OF ALL ELEMENTS OF THE NETWORK AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS FACILITIES (INCLUDING POWER, COMMUNICATIONS DEVICES, LINES, MODEMS, AND TERMINALS). ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE IN APPLICABLE TECHNICAL FIELD. Job description : Entry level network technician positions. Contract and full time positions. Manager prefers to bring someone in on a contract role and then convert them to full time. Manager prefers CCNA certification and any high school degree or GED is fine for education or a couple of years of hands-on network support experience. Ability to support LAN and wireless networks, TCP-IP and technical components related to networking. ServiceNOW is the ticketing tool used. Working arrangements 9 to 5 job, five days a week. Oncall required - once every three weeks minimum work from home - one day at home per week Be able to move around different plants for providing related network support using their own vehicle. Cost of travel will be reimbursed. PPE should be provided by the vendor / contracting company. Be able to work in extreme environments.
