Date Posted: 08/24/2023 Req ID: 33646 Faculty/Division: Uof T Mississauga Department: UTM: Historical Studies Campus: University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) Course Description: This course provides an opportunity to engage in an in-depth examination of specialized and scholarly work within women, gender, and interactionuality studies with a focus on the diverse and multidisciplinary expressions of feminist thought from the perspective of postcolonial, transnational, intersectional, diasporic, Black feminist, indigenous, and queer theories. This course situates the importance of praxis, the relationship between theory and social practice, to women, gender, and interactionuality studies. Students will engage throughout with the relationship between theories of gender and interactionuality as they relate to, and are inseparable from, an understanding of race and racial formations. It incorporates study of the themes and debates concerning the socially constructed categories of gender and interactionuality in historical and contemporary contexts. Estimated Course Enrollment : 80 Estimated TA Support : 145 Class Schedule : Tuesday, 1-3 Hours of Work: Tuesday, 3-5 Sessional Dates of Appointment : September 1, 2023 - April 30, 2024 Salary : $52.76 per hour Please note that should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Qualifications : Applicants will have a Masters or Ph. D. in Gender, Feminist and/or interactionuality Studies or a closely related discipline. A Ph. D. degree in Gender, Feminist or interactionuality Studies is preferred. Previous experience in a similar course is desirable. Description of Duties : Duties may include the teaching of small tutorial sections, marking of assignments, holding scheduled office hours and invigilation of exams; other duties as determined by the supervisor.
