OVERVIEW:The Accounts Payable Manager will report directly to the Associate Director of Financial Operations and will support the efficiency and growth of the organization by providing financial tracking and reporting support, as well as customer service to Year Up sites around the country. This person will execute and deliver on a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to accounts payable, cash postings, account reconciliations, and management of the stipend process and a small team. The Accounts Payable Manager will also play a critical role in working with our local sites and National Office to process vendor payments, staff expense reports, and assist in managing accounting systems.To be successful in this role, you'll be comfortable working independently and will thrive in a fast-paced environment where you're asked to juggle competing priorities and deadlines. You'll be asked to move with a sense of urgency and work with and across teams to ensure that departmental and site needs are met. You'll be someone who enjoys thinking creatively and critically about how to constantly improve the functionality of the site as a whole, offering input and suggestions. Prior experience in operations, project management, and finance is ideal, as well as an ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities.In keeping with Year Up's values, the Accounts Payable Manager will also have the opportunity to interact with students as a mentor, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial Operations * Review and process all staff expense report transactions through online system (Concur), ensuring that all items are coded to the correct General Ledger segment * Post transactions and produce daily check runs for Accounts Payable fulfillment * Maintain vendor list and new vendor set-up * Process payroll and stipend manual checks as needed * Create reports for travel and expense and monitor transactions against stated policy * Assist with month-end close including generating accrual entries * Provide additional support on special projects, as needed * Prepare allocation entries for benefits and payroll-related items * Prepare and post reclassifying and correcting journal entries * Managing Student Stipends process; supporting the Stipend Specialist and reconciling stipend transactions (navigating & reconciling across Contract Manager, Salesforce, ADP) * Ad Hoc Reporting, i.e. requests for modifications to stipends, hardship requests, and other student advances * Other duties as assignedSite/National Support * Work with internal customers across the company, particularly local Operations Directors, to support daily operations by fielding Accounts Payable, and employee reimbursement questions, and resolving miscoded entries * Assist with the National Office budgeting process and audit * Participate in projects related to stipend processingSite Team/Learning Community Member * Serve as a coach/mentor for a small number of current students * Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students * Participate in staff meetings and trainingsQUALIFICATIONS: * At least 2 years of experience in the workforce preferred * 2+ years of experience working in a financial services role a plus, but not required * Experience with cloud-based accounts-payable system Concur experience preferred * Experience with automated financial management software, Sage experience preferred * Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency including pivot tables and * Experience in a non-profit setting preferred * Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively multitask * Strong organizational and management skills * A passion for working with young adults, an unshakable belief in their potential and a strong commitment to the mission of Year Up * Understanding of the Opportunity Divide and its drivers * Commitment to diversity and inclusionSalary Range: $52,500 - $65,000#LI-HybridCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS: * Year Up has established salary ranges for each of our sites, which allows us to pay employees competitively, equitably and consistently in different geographic markets.
