Join our community and experience Emerson College ! Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President, Development, the Director, Development, LA Campus will be responsible for continuing to increase leadership and major gift level support from parents, alumni and friends. This role will be based in Los Angeles and will work an assigned portfolio of highly rated west coast-based prospects and donors, develop, plan, and implement programs to encourage and increase parent, alumni and friends giving. The Director, Development, LA Campus will be responsible for soliciting leadership and major gifts both independently or in collaboration with Emerson College faculty, staff and leadership and play a key role on the Institutional Advancement team. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Work closely with Institutional Advancement leadership, as well as college leadership to grow a successful major giving program as well as build a portfolio of international donors residing in the West Coast market and territories as assigned. Collaborate with college-wide development officers to develop and implement sustainable and major gift fundraising strategies for prospects in the West Coast market and territories as assigned. Develop and implement individualized strategies for donor cultivation and solicitation. Use sophisticated prospect research techniques to help grow the market. Ensure that donors are well-informed, acknowledged in meaningful ways, and appreciated in an appropriate manner throughout the year. Along with leadership, participate in the strategic planning and prospecting of Emerson's first ever campaign. Draft and edit proposals, reports, and briefings as appropriate. Work closely with the Emerson Los Angeles campus, making regular visits and attending key campus events as needed. Travel as needed, including internationally, with the president, Institutional Advancement leadership deans, chairs, and faculty to meet with donors and prospects. Report directly to the Boston Campus and travel to Boston for key events and department meetings as needed. QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job. Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business or a related field. 5-7 years of experience in fundraising required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job. Deep understanding of and passion for the College's mission, vision, goals, and funding priorities. Ability to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors. Proficiency in using computer software and the ability to learn new software easily. Strong organizational, administrative, oral and written communication skills. Confident public speaking skills and the ability to represent the department at meetings and on committees. Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and collaborative skills. Ability to engage with alumni who have been out of touch with the college. PHYSICAL ABILITIES - Activities commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Compensation for this position will be between $ 124,600 - $158,900 annually, commensurate with experience.Grade of Position: 23-14EScheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25Division of Institutional AdvancementIn addition to a competitive salary, Emerson College is committed to the health and well-being of our employees and family members.
