Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.Performs welding processes on aluminum, steel, and alloy parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys and precision blending using hand tools to prepare metallic surfaces for welding and non-destructive evaluation. Determines layouts and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications. Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures. Joins metal parts to form a permanent bond. Welds metal components and parts using standard specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches and may also utilize friction stir welding (FSW) methods using solid-state joining. Uses electrical currents or friction to create heat and bond metals. Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. Set up and operate large, motion-controlled machines to create friction stir welds on launch vehicles. Perform periodic maintenance on machines with complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and torque wrenches.Special Mentions Relocation provided. Travel expected up to 0% of the time. Multiple positions availableResponsibilities include but are not limited to: Passion for our mission and vision: Millions of people living and working in space! 5+ years of laser welding and/or CNC laser or robotics experience Understanding of laser optics and processes such as cutting and welding, and part set up - including knowledge of laser safety practices. Ability to set-up and precisely position large scale hardware Ability to troubleshoot program and/or machine issues Self-Motivated with the ability to work within a team environment or independently as required Ability to climb ladders, stairs, work in small/restricted areas, and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Minimum Qualifications Reading and interpreting engineering drawings Jog and dry-run CNC laser machines for set up processing Program and operate CNC fiber laser equipment, both at the machine control and with offline software You will provide manufacturing feedback to engineers and process improvement feedback to managementPreferred Qualifications 9+ years of direct experience CNC G-code language online programming Experience using laser optics and processes such as cutting and welding, and part set up - including knowledge of laser safety practices.
