Job Description: We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the General Manager to oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure exceptional customer experiences. This role requires a passion for the cannabis industry, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to compliance and safety. Position Overview: Responsibilities: Operations: Assist the General Manager in all aspects of dispensary operations, including inventory management, sales, and customer service. Supervise and train dispensary staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. Lead and motivate a team of staff to achieve performance targets and sales goals. Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of team members. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the production team. Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a diverse team of front-of-house and back-of-house staff, fostering a positive work environment and promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration. Provide clear direction, guidance, and feedback to employees, setting performance expectations and holding team members accountable for their responsibilities. Staff Training and Development: Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for new hires and ongoing professional development opportunities for existing staff. Identify and nurture talent within the team, providing opportunities for advancement and skill enhancement through cross-training and specialized training initiatives. Performance Management: Conduct regular performance evaluations and constructive feedback sessions with employees to recognize achievements, address areas for improvement, and support career growth. Utilize performance metrics and feedback from customers to evaluate team performance and identify areas for enhancement in service quality and efficiency. Conflict Resolution: Proactively address conflicts and interpersonal issues among staff members, utilizing effective communication and conflict resolution techniques to promote a harmonious work environment. Act as a mediator in resolving disputes between staff and ensure that grievances are addressed promptly and fairly in accordance with company policies and procedures. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and receiving products. Maintain a clean and organized store environment, following state regulations and company standards. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, including product recommendations, education, and resolving customer inquiries or concerns. Ensure compliance with all state and local cannabis regulations, including tracking sales and inventory data accurately. Sales: Contribute to the development and implementation of sales strategies to drive revenue and meet sales targets. Stay informed about industry trends, products, and regulations to provide accurate information to customers and staff. Financial Management: Manage daily financial operations, including cash handling, banking, and reconciliation. Monitor expenses, budgets, and financial reports to ensure adherence to financial goals and targets. Coordinate with accounting personnel to ensure accurate bookkeeping and financial record-keeping. People Operations Management: Develop and implement training programs to onboard new employees and ensure ongoing professional development. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff to foster a culture of accountability and excellence. Hiring and Recruiting: Review incoming applications and resumes to identify qualified candidates. Screen candidates based on job requirements, skills, experience, and cultural fit. Schedule and conduct interviews with selected candidates. Prepare interview questions and evaluation criteria tailored to each position. Coordinate interview logistics and ensure a positive candidate experience. Assess candidates based on their qualifications, experience, skills, and cultural fit. Make final hiring decisions and extend job offers to selected candidates. Onboarding and Orientation: Develop and deliver onboarding programs to welcome and integrate new hires into the organization. Coordinate orientation sessions to familiarize new employees with company policies, procedures, and culture. Provide necessary training and resources to support new employees in their roles. Ensure compliance with relevant labor laws, regulations, and company policies throughout the hiring process. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all recruitment activities, including applications, resumes, interview notes, and hiring decisions. Other Duties as assigned by Management Qualifications: Previous experience in a retail or customer service environment, preferably in the cannabis industry. Strong leadership and communication skills. Knowledge of cannabis products, strains, and consumption methods. Familiarity with state and local cannabis regulations. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. Must be 21 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in business management or related field is a plus. Additional Notes: The job requires physical activity, including prolonged standing, repetitive bending, walking, and lifting or moving up to 40 pounds (or more with a co-worker). Good visual acuity, hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and ability to perform repetitive motions with accuracy is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. As a condition of employment, all employees are required to submit to a background check. Employment decisions, in compliance with state law, are based on an employee's background report at the time of hire. This job requires completion of an Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) background check and badging process.
