Full job description Preschool Teacher Responsibilities 1. Work with other preschool staff to plan thematic curriculum including language arts, math, science, social studies, art, etc. (daily lessons)2. Welcome children immediately and interact with children. Try to stay at the assigned activity.3. Assist in toileting, pull-ups, and/or clothes.4. Assist in maintaining inventory of snack and classroom materials and observing agreed upon routines and methods of discipline.5. Share equally in the workload of daily classroom life, including prompt arrival, daily set-up of activities, clean up after snack and tidying the room at the end of the session which may include vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing surfaces per regulatory guidelines, returning materials (making sure room is ready for the next session).6. Plan and lead Circle Time activities with help from the assistant.7. Maintain an orderly, relaxed classroom and observe agreed upon routines and methods of discipline.8. Routinely participate in fire drills or emergency evacuation procedures.9. Participate in planning for the classroom with others on the team.10.Communicate with assistant by relaying information shared by parents.11. Be familiar with all necessary forms and how to use them.12. Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times; consistently demonstrate professional and quality work habits.13. Develop a mutually supportive team atmosphere within the classroom: regarding one another with genuine respect and recognizing the gifts and graces that each person brings to the team.14. Participate in scheduled staff meetings, parent programs,Open Houses, fundraising, community and cultural events at the request of the Director.15. Constantly monitor the safety of the children and the classroom environment.16. The job may include the following physical requirements:● Lifting and/or carrying up to 50 pounds● Sitting on the floor/ground or on child-size chairs/furniture● Holding children on your lap● Standing for up to 60 minutes● Walking short distances several times a day - to and from the play area, around the building, up and down stairs to the downstairs classrooms. Personal Characteristics ● Pleasant, cooperative personality● Professional appearance● Punctuality● Personal understanding of Christian faith, ethics, and culture. Accountability Reports to the Director, Pastor and Church Boards (Session).All new employees are hired for a six-month conditional employment period, at the end of which there will be a performance review and the ongoing employment status will be determined at that time.
