Role Purpose: The Medical Assistant (MA) provides medical assistance under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider. This position performs select duties for the promotion of health in the care of patients and delivers care according to practice protocols and procedures.Responsibilities: Clean, prepare and stock supplies in exam rooms. Obtain vital signs and patient history. Maintain accurate and prompt charting in the patient's record. Perform clinical skills such as phlebotomy, electrocardiography (EKGs), point-of-care testing and injections. Triage calls, provide test and lab results to patients and present relevant information to providers with correct medical terminology. Manage medical records including filing of electronic materials into EMR. Review and manage a variety of invoices including lab testing and medications, input into charge processing system. Create and process prior authorizations as needed for lab tests, imaging, and medications. Manage inbound and outbound patient phone calls for clinical questions, scheduling, and patient enrollment. Stock, maintain, and dispense medications from pharmacy. Process lab specimens such as point-of-care tests, centrifuged blood specimens. Minimum Requirements: Education High School Diploma or GED Licenses & Certifications Must provide proof of MA Certification upon hiring.
